Exercise for Woman

One of the exercise i've learnt from book as well as antenatal class is kegel exercise. It's a pelvic floor exercise which is simple to do and strengten our pelvic muscle.

Man can do this too.

What is a kegel?
A kegel is the name of a pelvic floor exercise, named after Dr. Kegel who discovered the exercise. These muscles are attached to the pelvic bone and act like a hammock, holding in your pelvic organs. To try and isolate these muscles trying stopping and starting the flow of urine.

How do I do the kegel exercise?
Once you have located the muscles simply tighten and relax the mucsle over and over, about 200 times a day. These are basic kegels. There are many variations on kegels: elevator kegels (Where you tighten slowly, in increments going in and out, like an elevator stopping on several floors.), you can hold the muscle tightened for five seconds, you can bulge the muscles out at the end, and many other variations.
Why would I want to do kegel exercises?

Kegeling provides many benefits:

  • Conditioned muscles will make birth easier, and your perineum will more likely be intact (fewer tears and episiotomies)

  • Sexual enjoyment is enhanced for both partners

  • It can prevent prolapses of pelvic organs

  • It can help prevent leaking urine when you sneeze or cough esp after child birth

  • PERFORMING PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES:

    1. Begin by emptying your bladder.

    2. Tighten the pelvic floor muscles and hold for a count of 10.

    3. Relax the muscle completely for a count of 10.

    4. Perform 10 exercises, three times a day (morning, afternoon, and night).

These exercises can be performed any time and any place. Most people prefer to perform the exercises while lying down or sitting in a chair. After 4 to 6 weeks, most people notice some improvement. It may take as long as 3 months to see a significant change.

A word of caution: some people feel that they can speed up the progress by increasing the number of repetitions and the frequency of exercises. However, this over-exercising may instead cause muscle fatigue and increase leakage of urine.

If you feel any discomfort in your abdomen or back while performing these exercises, you are probably performing them incorrectly. Some people have a tendency to hold their breath or tighten their chest while trying to contract the pelvic floor muscles. Relax and concentrate on contracting just the pelvic floor muscles.

    Happy exercising !

    Bread recipee -Failed

I've tried for the second time, using the same bread making recipe. But seems like it is still sticky inside. this time is worst as the bread did not rise as much as the first time. Not sure is it b'cos of the extra milk i add in.

The Dough is just sticking to each other, cant seem to mix properly when i use the electrical mixer. it just stick on the two spiral stick. make it so hard to twist and turn.

So, i've came to the conclusion that the recipe is not workable.

Bread making - failed ! sob.

Tonight shall try the apple cake.

My next baking is egg tart. muahh.. shall post the recipe in my next entry.

    Baking Knowledge

There are many ingredients that you come across during cooking/baking that you are not sure what they actually are or what is the difference between one another. I have that problem too.

So instead of always bugging LGG .. i decided to search for it from website. some of the doubts are cleared after getting the answer like the following or asking friends who bake together with you.

    Baking Powder

Q: Several times the recipe called for "Double-action" baking powder.
What is Double-action baking powder and how is it different than regular baking powder?

A: Baking powder is only one way of leavening baked goods.

There are three basic types of baking powder.
    (a) Double-action which releases 1/3 of the carbon dioxide at room temperature
    and the rest during baking.
    (b) Tartrate baking powder reacts quicker, as soon as the liquid is added.
    (c) Phosphate baking powder is slower and only heat releases its gases.

Basically, the difference between baking powder & double action baking powder is that double action baking powder is the enhanced version which promote the leavening action.

Other agents used are baking soda and yeast.
Baking soda acts as a leavening agent when mixed with an acid such as sour cream, sour milk, buttermilk or citrus juice. Baking soda is mainly used in cakes that contain cocoa powder or chocolate

Q: What does Yeast do ?

A: Yeast is a tiny living fungus that thrives on sweetness, warmth, and moisture. Yeast releases gases that makes bread dough rise, lightening the bread.
Yeast not only makes dough rise, it also works on the gluten in the flour to give it flavor and texture.

Q: What is buttermilk? Does buttermilk contain butter?

A: You might be surprised to learn there is no butter, per se, in buttermilk, and it is lower in fat than sweet milk. Old-fashioned homemade buttermilk is the slightly sour, residual liquid which remains after butter is churned, ie. milk from the butter or buttermilk. It was usually flecked with tiny spots of sweet, creamy butter that didn't quite make it to the top to be skimmed. The flavor of buttermilk is reminiscent of yogurt and most people prefer it well-chilled. You'll find it is slightly thicker in texture than regular milk but not as heavy as cream. It takes one gallon of milk to yield one-half pint of true buttermilk.

Nowadays, most commercial buttermilk is made by adding a lactic acid bacteria culture to pasteurized sweet whole milk or, more commonly skim milk or non-fat milk, and it may or may not have added butter flecks.
After the addition of the culture, the milk is left to ferment for 12 to 14 hours at a low temperature (optimum 69 degrees F.). It is usually labeled cultured buttermilk and may be salted or unsalted. Most commercial varieties are salted, so check the label if you are on a sodium-restricted diet

... will add in as i go along..

    Yam Cake

    Sue,

Here's the yam cake recipe, not the one i used, but the steps & ingredients almost similar. You can try. Mine is microwave version, this is purely steam. I don't use tapioca starch, but this has. the comment says it gives glistering look.

    Yam Cake (Yu Tou Kueh
    Ingredients:
1 small yam (rinsed, skin peeled and cubed)
    3 shallots, sliced
2 Tbsp dried shrimps (washed, soaked in hot water to soften)

    100 gm rice flour
    3 Tbsp tapioca flour
    550 ml filtered water
    sea salt
    1 tsp five spice powder
    white pepper

    Steps to follow
Steam cube yam for 15 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Heat wok, drizzle in some oil, stir-fry shallots till slightly brown.
Add in the cube yam, salt, five spice powder, pepper and stir for approximately 2 minutes.
Combine rice flour, tapioca flour, salt and filtered water in a saucepan until mixture is smooth (lumps free), place over low heat, stirring continuously with a fork until it thickens like light custard. Remove saucepan from heat and add in all
    the yam, mix evenly.

Transfer yam mixture into a 20 cm square cake tin and steam for 25 minutes.
Leave to cool and garnish with chopped spring onions, chili and crispy fried shallots (as preferred). Served with sweet chili sauce of your choice.

Note : Most yam cake recipes call for alkali water which give this dish a gelatin texture but I have omitted it altogether. Instead, I keep my yam cake cling wrapped overnight in the refrigerator to firm up the texture. As for the tapioca flour (tapioca starch), it gives the dish an attractive glistening look.

    D&D

This year D&D was quite different from previous years as the theme is so casual and relaxing..Aloha...so we really get to see people wearing beach wear and spaghetti straps and some just wrap in those beach sarong.. we even have 2 guys in coconut leaves only, without shirt for the whole night, wonder if they r cold.

i cant wear anything other than my flaring black dress to cover my bulging tummy. so i never follow the theme.

We get to enjoy coconut drink, fortune wheel, medicure and some tatoo on body..and AGAIN this year our table no one wins anything big prize !!! so dissappointing ! winners get plasma tv, get to go Paris & Hawaii.. sob sob.. when will my turn comes ?? so no luck !

anyway, we enjoy the food that night, i can eat a lot.. eat for two huh ! 2 cols cant make it so we have ample food for the 8 of us..eat until so full .. phewwww.. LGG has been eating like this for few days consecutively ! functions after functions !

Ohh.. one small thing to mention, my boss.. that funny guy again.. never come and greet us .. just peep from far.. we wonder why he always acted like this. even our french boss come from tables to tables to chit chat..

Tom is very very disappointed as he purposely put boss's name with our table this year and yet being turned down without even telling us why. well.. Tom intention is to carry him.. but it was backfired.

Anyway, as for me, i don;t care lah.. so long we enjoy ourselves that's most important.

Now, waiting for APT dinner and year end xmas party ! by then i can bring my bb to the xmas makaning le.. heeee..

    My BB is healthy

yesterday went for prenatal follow up again. monthly check up for the time being. It's a relief to know my bb is growing according to schedule, yesterday did a detail scanning on her body structure such as limbs, organs, heart beats etc etc..

The report stated she is in normal growing range. Phewww.. the most worries being a mothes-to-be is whether the bb you carry is healthy and normal or not.

Blood test also show very minimum chances of down syndrom. This is partly due to age. when you ar 35 and above, you may have higher risk. so i've decided to have all the children i want to have before 35. to play safe.

LGG & i started our prenatal course on saturday. First sessions is very basic, but good for LGG as he don;t read as much as i do, he receive info mostly via what he sees and what he hear so this course will definitely benefit him. and in a way, help in my pregnancy cos if your husband knows more, it's always a plus point.

In the class, all of the couples are first time parents. so, we are actually learning together. mm.. if im having my second child, i don;t think i'll be coming to this class too, cos already have experience lah.

5 more months to go !! Ganbate !

    Yam Cake

Yipeee !!! My yam cake making is successful ! I follow exactly the recipe given in the microwave book with exact measurement and all.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Not bad, at least it really tasted like yam cake. but just that i don't have the sauce to go with it.

Sunday, i gave some to my mum-in-law and she said not bad too. kekekek..

I've taken photo of my first yam cake but lazy to on home pc to upload ! next time lah.

While yam cake making was successful but my kaya making was a failure !! cos i forgot to stir, i just leave it to steam so it ended up like scramble egg, chunky. not sticky like actual kaya! but still can eat with bread , the taste and smell exactly like kaya just the texture different. nvm i'll try again !

this weekend, maybe i'll do the steam cake, seem healthy and also tapioca steam cake cos i still have 1/2 package of tapioca left from last week.

Geesss... so much to make but so little time to really sit down and enjoy my food. now, yam cake still have left over in fridge !

    New Hobby

yesterday my asam cuttlefish was not bad. at least i enjoy it ! LGG complained too spicy for him muahh.. but the taste , the aroma.. all there..

today, i went to buy the weighing machine, the greaseproof paper, rice flour. these are my tools to baking !!!

this weekend, i will try to make yam pudding, shall post some photos if successful.
I will try to make the "nine storey kueh" aka kuih lapis, the steps are simple.
    shall try out and see.

    PunCtuality

Simply hate rainy day on weekday morning. bus always so crowded and umbrella dripping water everywhere..

Like usual, i go down to wait for bus around 8:05am. one bus came, not many seats left, many waiting to board. so i thought, ok, maybe i should wait for next one for more seats. so i missed this bus.

The next bus, over-crowded, the bus never even stop. damn. miss this too. already 8:15am. nevermind, i still have plenty of time. so i missed 2 more buses, cos all overly crowded.

but now, it's 8:30am already. im gonna be late and the next bus just take too long to arrive. start to feel nervous. so when the bus finally came, i have to board even crowded. no choice, go to stand. for the past few months, ever since i pregnant, i never take bus that make me stand .. but today exception !!

i reached tampani's bus stop at around 8:55am, i know i'll be late cos i need to walk over which takes abt 5 minutes. floor wet and slippery some more, have to walk extremely slow..

so, today, first time, im late to work for 5 minutes ! sob !

It's not that my work place is that strict but i always believe in pucntuality. I never late to work ! it's a very bad habit to come to work late just b'cos others do the same.

last time, my x-col used to do that, she always come to work near to 9am everthough she suppose to start work at 8:30am. reason being, others also late. which is the attitude i cannot accept.

neeway, my current cols abide to the punctuality principle. only yong sometimes late cos when he is early, he go walk walk, ended up he comes in late.. we always tell him, why don't he comes in first, then if want go out walk walk again lor.. at least boss sees him on time !

i bought a package of tapioca, maybe i can try to make some tapioca related food.. mm..

    I can feel You, bb

Recently, i think starting from 2 weeks back, i can start to feel bb moving inside me.. the movement is getting more often..anytime, morning, during work, evening, night...

We are excited to feel bb's movement inside me..From the readings i've done, start talking to bb now will help as bb can hear sounds but may not know what we are talkign about but bb can recognise voices already..

so, shall start my music therapy soon.. put some Enya music to my tummy.. muahh..soothing music helps bb's growth as stated by those baby book to stimulate bb's brain while in the womb.

I wonder if my mum sings to me when im in her womb.. heee

sob.. it means time to get maternity clothes.. i cant fit into my normal clothes..i can only fit into my larger skirt..and working pants as i used to buy them in comfortable size.. so still have buffer for my enlarging tummy..

What To Do When You're Passed Over for a Promotion

    Good article. extracted by LGG.

Well..i just got my promotion this year. so maybe i wont feel too much abt this article but i think it is a good article to know why aren't u promoted yet ?!?

What To Do When You're Passed Over for a Promotion

    By Arlene S. Hirsch

Career ladders have largely disappeared in organizational life. Paths upward are clogged and promotions no longer automatically guaranteed. The result: stalled careers and disillusioned employees.

To put your career on an upward trajectory, you need to learn how to make the most of each situation. This includes knowing what to do when you get passed over for a promotion.

In a perfect work world, office politics don't exist, no one ever makes mistakes, and everyone who performs their job properly gets promoted. But the reality is that competence often takes a back seat to office politics, personality conflicts influence decisions, and the best person for a job isn't always the one who gets it.

    The Role of Office Politics

A 28-year-old social worker in Chicago admits she had underestimated the importance of office politics before she encountered "the boss from hell." Despite the fact that she was admired and respected by many of her colleagues, co-workers and clients, she got passed over for a promotion she believed she deserved in favor of an outsider who knew nothing about the agency. While the newcomer had no social work experience, she had management skills that the social worker lacked.

Career counselor Janet Scarborough, founder of Bridgeway Career Development in Seattle, believes that individuals often underestimate the importance of organizational politics while overestimating the role of skills and accomplishments. "When you get passed over for a promotion," she says, "you need to ask yourself: 'Have I paid enough attention to the organizational structure?' Get comfortable with the idea that the interpersonal component matters." In other words, if you shun office politics, don't be surprised if you get passed over for promotions. People who are good at office politics are good at building relationships in organizations.

For the Chicago social worker, the first task was sorting out the personal disappointment from the professional ramifications. While she could see the value of hiring someone with management experience, she resented what she saw as the devaluation of her social-work experience. She also suspected that her personality clash with her boss hadn't helped her situation. She was even less sure about whether she'd be able to respect and work with this new manager whose style was so different from hers.

From the other side, her boss worried that the social worker might try to undermine the new manager's authority instead of providing valuable input and expertise. If she wanted to keep her job, she needed to focus on forging a strong relationship with this new manager. This meant setting aside her personal feelings and acting professionally. Still, it wasn't easy for her to continue working in a place where she felt she had no future.

Not getting promoted turned out to be a key to forcing her to re-evaluate her priorities and make necessary changes. When she was able to place the lost promotion in perspective, she realized that, despite her ambition to be promoted, she didn't want to be a manager. She really wanted to become a social-policy analyst.

    It Can Feel Personal

Getting passed over for a promotion is almost always painful because the rejection feels so personal. But it may not be a reflection on your abilities at all. That's why it's important to get all the facts before you jump to conclusions. A 35-year-old marketing manager in New York City figured this out after getting passed over for a promotion on three different occasions, despite that, on paper, she was clearly the most qualified candidate for the job. The manager couldn't understand why apparently less-competent people kept getting promoted ahead of her, despite her outstanding achievement record with the company.

Because all the promotions had been given to less-qualified men, she felt she had only two options: file a lawsuit for discrimination or start looking for another job.

In such cases, proceed cautiously, says Lynn Friedman, a clinical psychologist in Bethesda, Md., who specializes in workplace issues. If you're a member of a minority group who has been turned down repeatedly for promotions despite stellar reviews and other kinds of formal recognition, it's natural to wonder whether these rejections are based on discrimination, Dr. Friedman says.

But wondering is different than knowing. Before generating any hypotheses about your boss's intentions, you should consider what other factors might be hampering your efforts. "Your boss may have reasons that have nothing to do with your minority status. For example, she may be more dependent on you than you fully appreciate. She may, for her own reasons, be afraid to lose you. It's important to learn more about why you have been turned down so that you can take effective steps to rectify the situation," says Dr. Friedman.

    Be Calm, Not Confrontational

It's hard to accomplish those goals when you're upset or angry. Dr. Scarborough emphasizes the importance of staying calm during such discussions. She says, "Take time to reflect on your situation before seeking feedback. Come at the question from a positive place. Don't be confrontational."

Dr. Friedman agrees. "Deal with your feelings first, preferably with someone outside the workplace, before you go to your boss. Figure out what you want the outcome" of the discussion to be, she says.

In the case of the marketing manager, this meant soliciting feedback about what she needed to do get a promotion. She asked her manager to help identify the skills and accomplishments she needed to position herself for the next promotion and sought her manager's support as a mentor to help her to achieve her goals.

What she discovered surprised her. Rather than devaluing or discriminating against her, the manager was actually grooming her to take over her own position as soon as the manager was promoted. In the meantime, she wanted to keep the marketing manager close to her so that she could continue to mentor her.

This opened the door for the marketing manager and her boss to discuss learning and growth opportunities the company could offer her in lieu of a promotion. Together they developed a career action plan that enabled the marketing manager to continue to expand her skills, increase her responsibilities and make more money even though she didn't receive a promotion at that time.

Had the social worker had this discussion with her boss, she would have learned that she needed more management and supervisory experience. She might then have negotiated with her boss for more formal education and training. She also might have been given day-to-day supervisory and management responsibilities that would help her gain the hands-on experience she needed for a promotion.

Is the Promotion a 'Good Fit'?

Regardless of the reason you're passed over for a promotion, the question of "fit" almost always needs to be addressed. Often the position isn't really the best fit -- either because you don't have the right qualifications or your personality doesn't seem to match the particular situation.

In a perfect world, personalities wouldn't matter quite so much. But in the real world of work, the people you work for and with can make all the difference between success and failure.

Losing out on a promotion you wanted isn't the end of the world. It's not the end of your career, either. "Really successful people use [rejection] as a learning experience," says Dr. Scarborough. "They don't let it immobilize them. They use it as an opportunity to develop and exhibit resilience."

The important thing is to get feedback and gain clarity, Dr. Friedman says. Then, you can figure out what you need to do to change.

What's important is to learn from the experience and, in the process, take the initiative to become more resilient, confident and self-directed.

So, if you don't get that job you wanted:

    ·        Take time to process your feelings, preferably with someone outside of the organization.
    ·        In an objective, nonconfrontational and supportive meeting with your manager, solicit feedback to determine why you were passed over.
    ·        Determine what you're seeking: Do you want to expand your role, change your job title; get a pay raise, receive professional training, or reapply for the position?
    ·        Evaluate your future with the company based on the feedback you received.
    ·        Develop an action plan.

    X-CompANy GossIps

Lunch with x-col and catch up with him on some of the latest happenings in my old company..

Seems like the pillar of the team, is leaving them. They said all b'cos of one manager that has been backstabbing them.

Last time, i used to hear good things abt this manager, people stay back b'cos of him, they dun mind the late nights, the low incentives , cos they said this manager always protect them and fight for their welfare. so on blahh..

Now, it's totally different story i've heard, people is keen to leave cos of him. so ironic.

The company was acquired by another company, our previous bosses all left and sold their share.. what a drastic change..

My x-col said their salary still abt 2k plus..so pitiful.

But hey, i have left, so no more my business.. just feel pity for those who can't seem to make a move due to some commitments and etc..

Just hope for a better career path for all of my friends and of course myself.. haaaa

    Baby-BOOM

This year seems to be the year for many piglet to be produced.

We have local actress Zoey Tay, due in Oct. taiwaness actress "xiao S" both pregnant now.

my mum's neighbour (next door) giving birth this coming July, my mum's neighbour (opp) daughter in law, giving birth in oct too.

My sis's frens, 3 of them. 1 giving birth in 3 months time, 2 in November.

My fren, Helen due in 3 months time , col, Jen due in Sept,

so, we are saying, when these babies grow up, we may have problem getting into the school of our choice, cos all will be fighting to get in.

    Work-ING HaRd ?!?

boss going HK tmw till friday.. kekekke.. no gahmen for 3 days.. kekekkeke..

Somehow, i think if not b'cos im preggy, i've already gone to Japan in March and Hk with him this time. But too bad.. miss all the travelling opportunity. neeway, nvm one lah.. always there is chance for traveling if i remain in this company.

Recently, there isn't much work to do. Sometimes i think people here is not that serious in their work. we are not so stressful to carry out any tasks/projects cos most of the time we will get vendors involved. we just mainly coordinate and make sure things flow smoothly according to schedule. This is how MNC works. We splurge millions of dollars for contracts and all .. but hire people to just corrdinate and plan for more and more upgrades.. we always say upgrades mean to create jobs to justify our working man-day.. muahhh...

I guess, at my stage, the easier the job , the better it is.. i dun want a job that is so strenous that i cant have time to sit down and blog or surf net right ? heeee..

HL is saying, she always wanted a job that pays well and she can settles down with not much work load. But too bad, her career does not go according to her wish. She has to work hard to earn that big buck..and fly here and there..

i always tell her that she has no commitment now, so, should make full use of the commitment-less day to do all the travelling and hard work.. who knows maybe she will come home with some indian bf (she flies to india a lot) then marry, have kids , no chance to fly here and there anymore ?

Geesss...im not sure it is that i cun have much things to do or im just lack of motivation to work..I wonder when the new guy/ger is coming in, to share our "load" muahh...

"mountain turtles" going to musical for the very first time..

How time flies.. it has been a year since we are officially married !
Happy Anniversary! A late post though.

We booked the ticket last year in the celebration of our anniversary, i wanted to try out something new on this day. It turned out the musical is darn good ! Indeed impressive and satisfying. The musical is an eye-opening to people like us who has never thought we will ever go for a musical play.

The whole set is so up to standard. the backdrop, the actors/actresses, the singings, the music, the scene.. all look so real and keep us awake whole night.. but.. in some singings i still feel sleepy.. cos each songs take few minutes..

There is a short break in between the musical for us to relax our muscles and have some drinks perhaps. The toilet's queue are long but there are many cubicles available, thus, not much waiting time.

So, overall rating for our first musical, i must say a 7/10

It's important to know the story before you go to a musical, else you'll be lost in the singings..lucky thing tcs just showed the movie recently and i've got the story and that has actually just let me enjoy the musical without trying to understand what exactly are they trying to express..

Let's see what's for our second anniversary then..looking forward to it..

It's nice to have friends who is sharing the same experience as u esp pregnancy.

Jen and i preggy almost the same time and due almost the same time, just 2 weeks apart. Thus, whenever we meet, we have never ending topics to talk abt..

i learn many thing from what she read or her doc told her.. she too learn things from me through my sis-in-laws experience..

after some comparison, we noticed that having baby in s'pore have more check-ups and more spending cos ther are many more medical details that doc in s'pore take note of than in m'sia.

You'll feel relief that someone is also going through the same journey as you are.. but she is luckier cos she dun get any morning sickness at all.. she just gain weigh uncontrollably.. haaa..and she said her nose is bloating... which i din notice it before so im not sure whether it is larger but bee bee ever told me her nose is getting bigger due to pregnancy..

Yesterday, we have gotten the bed and mattress.. mum is coming in mid april.. soon soon.. happy happy...

Happy Holiday to all.. Tmw is good friday ... long weekend muahhh..

    Week-END where-ABOUTS

Weekends le !!!! so happy !! TGIF !!

I haven been working for many many weekends since december'06. Luckly thing i have cols who can cover me else i'll be very tired u know !

This weekend, i tot of going Ikea to get a new bed for my mum as she is coming to cook for me ! muahhh !!!!.. so looking forward to her cooking !

I wonder why each time i miss my mum i tot of her cookings .. i wonder if my kids will do the same to me.. i guess unlikely as my cooking is no where to compare to my mum's.. but come to think of it.. i have a friend who praise her mum's cooking very much. once we had a chance to try her mum's cooking and ...we actually don't enjoy it..

maybe all children will love their mum's cooking no matter if it's nice or not.. it;s just the feeling of it ? but my mum's cooking confirm is good as i'm not the only person who feels her cooking is fantastic even my husband or neighbours feel the same..

ohh.. im suppose to plan where to go this weekend, not abt mum's cooking.. yeah.. plan to go ikea.. then maybe keep a look out for maternity clothing.. i guess very soon i'll wont be able to fit into my daily clothing.. better see see look look now..

    Have a great weekend !

    Sting-i-ness

    Tak boleh tahan...

Sometimes people is so stingy till their stinginess affect other people..

    real case #1:
one of our col in another department went for fibroid removal op. He wanted to show how he care, telling her if she go for operation, must inform him so that he will visit her or buy her some fruits basket.

So, recently, she went for the op. We found out. he talk big to her department cols , wanted her address cos he wanted to send him some wellness gift.

So, guess what he did ? he send an email asking me to buy and ask everyone in our department to share !!! funny right ? isn't he the one wants to show kindness ?? why must we share and buy for him ?

That's the problem. the underline lies in.. he always wanted to do something...to show others how generous he is.. how kind he is.. but he used his own department people to pay for it. he ask everyone to share.. not he ask.. he used other to do the job to sk others.. u get what i mean. so beh tahan him.

a $45 fruit basket, cant he afford ? but he rather ask everyone to share (we don't like the lady anyway, such an arrogant person) , so if u don't share, he take it personal, taking it as u r not cooperating with him.

So, we r the scapegoat !

    real-case #2
He emailed to me asking if myself and another col wanna go for lunch to eat fish head curry. his treat. im fine with it lah, but being understanding, i say i will buy deserts. all agreed.

But, when we at the hawker centre, the food came. the aunty asking for money. guess what he did ?? he pretended eating.. din even show any initiative to take out wallet to pay.. so my col as a guy, have to foot the bill !!!'

Can you believe it ?? i still keep my words, i bought them deserts. cos im not like him. he thinks everyone owes him cos he is the one decide our salary & bonus !

But, hey, we work for it ! and the money is not his ! it's the company's !!

We wonder if he will double his wealth by doing all these small action ! despising people who always trying means and ways to get advantage of others. abuse his power over the weak !

Geesss.. how i feel better after i spill it out !! i cant be going around complaining him ! i wish i could say it out loud and let him hear it !

    TaX-inG

Another year to give money to gahmen..our hard earned money will be distributed to their projects to build and rebuild their bridge/road/house..renovate and renovate again and again...

This year nothing for me to submit for tax relief.. sobb.. sobb...

    GaTHering

Once again Gis initiated the gathering. Past few times were called off cos not much of response from all..

seems like this time 4 of us will meet for sure. it's been some time since i meet Iris or BK. The last time i met Gis was during my wedding.

now, most of the cols we know in HP have left..to a better place..

Geess.. sleepy now.. got to try to stay awake..yawn yawn..

Saw jia's blog on CH's wedding..we wonder if ML will ever improve on her fashion sense. she looks older than her age and not up to date.. maybe that's what prof c likes .. heee..

anyway, boss left office le.. he eats snake a lot lately.. we also happy lah..

    You & me..

Im feeling better now.. not fully but better than before..

Yesterday, we can see him/her in a much clearer picture..with hands and legs and face and stomach... amazing how much changes in just a month time.. last month is just a bean-like feature...amazing how this small little life of 5cm can move and kick..

Geesss.. still overwhelm with the image of the cute little thing..the connection btw me and him/her...amazing...

    Y2007 New Year Resolution

Not sure what im busy with but just don't seem to have time to do my usual stuff. Haven't got the time to upload photos too.

Well, it has been second week of Y2007 and im married for 2 weeks now. Things are great, getting better i must say. We started to feel comfy with our new home. Still have many things have yet to tidy & pack but we will do it gradually.

Oh yeasss.. It has been the third year i blog on my New Year Resolution !! Just a guideline to my one year planning i guess.

A Flash back on my Y2006 New year resolution and how much have i accomplished my goals

    Careers & Travel:
Boss has been good to me. Appreciate my work and have high hopes in me.
He has given me many opportunities to learn new things and see different aspect of IT life. It is enjoyable and fruitful.

This year, finger cross that i'll have chance to travel as boss has been mentioning this for the nth times but seems like things get delayed and delayed. He din fly for the whole of 2006 too. One reason was due to change of Management. We have a new boss who looks like Jurasic park 1 actor.

    Feb'07 we will know if i get promotion/pay rise/bonus. hoo..fat new year i hope.

LGG & i are suppose to go for honeymoon in Jan but trip was cancelled due to insufficient participants. So we have rescheduled to Feb. Hopefully this is confirmed.

    Health :
I've been quite reqular to gym. jogging has been my Y2006 main sports.
I din get to work on pilates/Yoga much cos the schedule always do not fit.

This year, i will continue with my jogging & of course i will try to fit in my schedule with yoga/pilates.

This year i learnt dancing (cha cha.waltze.etc) not a bad experience !
    Stay Healthy always !

I've not been taking Mcs for 2 years. Amazing huh ! im entitled for 30 days MC per annum but all gone to waste. But i rather not taking than suffer from health problem.

    Family & Love:

JL aka LGG (Lao Gong Gong) & i finally tie the knot on 30th December. We have moved into our love nest and started our new life together.

I've picked up my cooking since. It has been years since i last cooked a meal but now i prepared dinner for my LGG daily. Cool huh ! Im still picking up slowly from my mum & mum-in-law and of course recipees books come in handy all the time :)

Glad to have a proper family gathering on my wedding day. The photos are so precious. I've got to arrange & print them out.

    Y2007 Resolution..
o stay happy. healthy.organised. less temper.
o Love my LGG & let him love me more.. heee
o Polish up my cooking skill !!
o Keep slim. Been adding more "bak" cos less exercise. Pick up Pilates/Yoga
o Go Bangkok for shopping spree
o Looking forward to our love product :)
o Try to spend time with my mum. Muak !
o keep in touch with friends.
    o Stop drinking Coffee !!

This year resolution is shorter cos i think it is the matter of achieving so not to put too much pressure on myself too.

All the best in Y2007 the year of piglet ! Roast pig is nice, always ! heee

    OuR Wedding Day - 30th December 2006

Details of my wedding day on 30th December 2006

    1. Preparation

Mum & aunt woke up as early as 430am to prepare breakfast.

Brother they all too, woke up and bathed and went out to buy coffee for me.heee my special request.

Basically, whole night i cant sleep. not sure why but just the mind did not seem to be able to rest. nervous with the day i guess. I got up with one-sided headache.

Mum made some herb tea for me to drink which seemed to work.

Make-up artist arrived at 7am. Photographer arrived at 8am.

After, make-up, i changed andand LGG came just about the same time.

    2. Groom's arrival

LGG came to pick me up at redhill home. Upon arrival, he called up.
Yann & Chenn (boys) went down to open car door for him.
Then LGG gave them one ang pow each

    * this is part of the customary, boys of bride's family will open car door for the Groom *

Then LGG & his brother (brought along a traditional layered basket with goodies like cakes/fruits..)

Mum is so nice that she invited LGG for breakfast.

    3. Sister's challenge

My sis,sis in law, autie & chenn they all blocking the door to the room where i'm sitting with face covered by the veil.

*Groom will have to pass the challenge to lift up the veil and bring the bride with him *

LGG is asked to sing mandarin love songs to me.. he got the hint few days back and managed to sing a song with the self-prepared lyrics. He passed la !! but the singing a bit errr.. heeee

Then of course got things like they asked him who is he looking for ? why looking for her ? blahh..

Finally, he is given permission to enter the room & be with his bride.

In chinese custom, after leaving the bride's home, they need to return on the same day.
But, mum said no need to make extra trip back, so we walk one round to the other end of the corridoor outside our house and come back.

Then, Mum gave us both each a cup of chinese tea or is it herbs to drink before we took off.

    4. Temple

    We moved on to temple.
Since we have many people, so all got to sqeeze into 2 cars.

bridal car- 6 people including driver. phewwww.

Mum cant follow us, this is part of chinese customary too. she and sis took another transport to go direct to our new home.

At temple, we are surprised with the wedding song that they played. It was the really traditional wedding music. " pom(3) pom(2) pom(4) pom(4)...." you know.

Then venerable do chanting and bless us with blissful marriage.

All these are videod by JK.

We spent some time at the temple waiting for some relatives.

    5. Our New Home

We headed to our new home.
Many people already there. This is where we have our tea ceremony & buffet lunch.

Yann went up to our bed to jump, as according to chinese customary, this bring lucks to the newly wed to have children and to have boy.

Boon, jia & Suh came too. So glad to see them especially Boon for making a trip all the way from penang just to attend my wedding. He & jia are my Dinner Mcees.

They took many photos of my marriage customary items. posted here.

So after all the tea ceremony & makaning, relatives roam about in our house. chit-chating.

Afternoon, we proceeded to hotel for the preparation of our wedding Dinner.

    6. Our Wedding Dinner

    Tired but cannot sleep.

Boon, Jia , Suh , LGG went for the captain briefing to setup and prepared for the dinner with proper timing and all.

I'm the bride so just ready for make-up & be "mei-mei".. heeee

You cant imagine the how nervous LGG & i were. The march in was so "Kan-chiong", we just keep telling ourselves to keep smiling.

Yann & Chenn are my flower "boys" they carry a small basket and throw the confetti. After few rehearsal at home, they did a great job that night and enjoy themselves, cutey cutey :)

    Our wedding songs selection:
    First march-in = This moment
    First dish =
Second march in = A moment like this

I wore the gown that i took picture in the morning, white one and a bit sexy as mid section are transparent.

I wore the second gown on that night, off white but very elegance as the material is so comfy and queen like

I chose to wear my tea dress as my secodn gown on that night as i think the pink strikes especially when take pictures. and it does not have a long tail like my first & second gown. So i can move from table to table easily.

Well. We are so glad this is over and we are now officially ( english or chinese cutomary) husband & wife. heeee

We felt like King & Queen during our 2 days stay in the 5 stars hotel. Breakfast was taken up in the room. our room was upgraded as a complimentary from the hotel to a full suit with 2 level. Originally it should be 1 level bridal suit.

The end of our wedding in Y2006. As we walked into Y2007 with a brand new life. Sharing our life together hand-in-hand.

All the loves go to my Laogong & my family and friends who have been a great help to make all these happened.

Next blog have to be my new year resolution.

    Customary #3

    3. Guo Da Li

Mum & brother got me a very huge roast pig. got a shock when i saw it but nice to eat. hee

We have lots of food and those wedding goodies. Mum ordered many boxes of wedding cakes to give to relatives & friends.
Mum also prepared buffet lunch for relatives. My aunt(71 year-old)volunteered to cook on the night before & on our actual Guo Da Li. So helpful.

most of the guests are my mum's friends and our relatives. some aunts i really longggg time never see. Anyway, that day, JL & I just smile smile, say "Thank you" and "Thanks for coming". so fake. But no other better words come to our mind. We are tired too. cos we eat the last. haaa.. cos paiseh lah.. everybody attention is on us.

    Customary #2

    (2) Marriage Dana

Yesterday 10th December(Sunday) we gave our Marriage Dana in Temple.

This is the second time i join them for the praying. Im still not familiar with the reciting. Cannot catch up !!

Dana means we are giving vegetarian lunch to the temple people as a form of offering to the temple to bless our marriage. One of the Buddhist sutra requires 88 times of kneeling up & down. My mum-in-law said they seldom recite this on sunday, maybe the venerable chose this for our marriage Dana.

After the praying, we proceed to vegetarian lunch. where we both bring the food to the venerable and they return us with the portion of food as kind of blessing.

This is the first celebration of our wedding with the blessing of venerables.

    Customary #1

    Here all the customary begins.

    (1) "An Chuan" Bed setting.
According to chiense custom, newly wed has to set up their bed according to chinese custom so that their relationship is long lasting with many children.

So, mum been checking with the customary wedding shop and we have set-up our bed accordingly to what we know to the extend that we can accept.

    Things to prepare
    (1) Lian ji <-- symbolises many kids
    (2) ang pow <-- symbolises lots of $$ to come
    (3) dry long yen <--symbolises kids also i think
    (4) leaf (not sure what leaf), mum prepared this , i think is chase away bad things
    (5) our pyjamas <--always together as couple i think

    Dying Young

Recent months there were shocking news of young people ranging from teenage to adult below 35 dying in their sleep. They are people deem fit with regular exercise and healthy lifestyle mostly married.

The lastest two cases are young couples, one was doctor. One was 29th year-old guy leaving his 7th mth heavily pregnant wife behind.

Scary really ! col said, their time has come as decided "up there". my col said from the trend , people who die in sleep are young people below 50 of age. so beware !!! and i was saying maybe year end, "up there" need to reach quotas, so anyhow drag the innocent people !!

Jokes aside, the government does not seem to be taking urgent action, looking at the death rate for just the past 2 months. There must be some similarities from these people. maybe staying around the same area, some chemical leakage or radiation or whatever it is !!

Pls save "us" aka the young people who still have so many years to live and to contribute to the country !!

    LGG's sms:

    " always remember..
    Life is impermanent..
    nothing is certain.
    Only death is certain..
so we just live each day to the fullest :) "

remember to tell you loved ones that you love them when you have chance, as you never know if tomorrow you'll still have the chance to see them again.

    Eat till I drop..

    Lunch maniac

    This week lunch:
    Monday - vegetarian
Tuesday - eat black chicken chinese herb soup at Macpherson (contractor's treat)

    NeighbouRs

Saturday i met my new neighbours. They just started their renovation. Seems like they are in hurry to complete the reno and will move in soon. I met the two old couple (husband & wife) who came to view my house with their contractor.

Their contractor is the same as ours. Last time they came to see our reno too & i intro to them. So, i will get commission for this. muah !!!! another unexpected ang pow !

According to my neighbour, their son (30 year-old) bought the house and he is still single. so, they (parents) and their son will stay in the house.I think this son is working overseas (contractor's info). The father cook a lot as informed by the wife. They are english speaking family, seem educated so i guess it'll be easier to get along with people with similarity to ourself. Just hope we can get along in days to come.

Best if they cook more and we get free dinner !! muahh !!

    Last MarathoN of Y2006

Bravo !! hugs for my dearie for completing the 10km with me.

I know it's hard for him since he has no chance to train or exercise due to his busy work schedule. Gosh.. i dunno why each time i go Marathon, i really can feel the excitement with the crowd all so ever-ready to run. that's what keep me going each year and the satisfaction of completing the journey !

This year is special cos both of us completed the run together, hand-in-hand. love the feeling of doing things together with someone you trust and can rely on.

I told him we r going again next year ! heee.. he fear the idea but i think i'll get him to run again next year !!! muaaaahhh !1

We both got the medal for completing the 10km. I've got two now. Y2005 & Y2006. Yipeee!! This year they provide more goodies. They even have banana for runners after the run. massage session for full marathon(42km) runner and unlimited mineral water & 100plus so cool !!!

That's it, completion of my Y2006 marathon. Next week onwards will be my Big day celebration in temple. The week after will be my big day celebration in Melaka. the week after will be Xmas celebration with faimly. the week after will be OUR BIG DAY that we've been looking forward since 1st january 2006.

A Year full of excitement and celebration !!

    Cheong Sam

First time in my life .up to now that i ever tot of trying up a cheong sam. Can't figure out why but it's not bad at all. May take a snap later.

Last week, i was in Town with a relocation project. So went lunch with gal col. As usual, when in town for lunch, will definitely go shopping. beginning of Nov i got myself a working bag. now, i got myself a Cheong Sam. but this is not those very tight fitting , long, red type. It is modern cheong sam that is shorter, above knee level, green and a bit silky feeling.

When i wear, i feel like waitress in chinese restaurant except it's not red. The sale person said i should wear it with stocking (panty hose). cos it splits at both side , so it can go quite high up.

now, i think i'll wear this for my Gou Da Li in Melaka. i will tight my hair up and become very very chinese looking.. muahh..
