Missy's July

Missy has been sick on 4th of July.fevere for 3 days, then with ulcers in her mouth whcih alarmed us, thinking Oh no.. another round of hand foot mouth disease ?? lucky thing, this round, it wasn't. missy has i=an inflamed throat, maybe we thought due to her grandpap birthday celebration, she ate too much chocolate.

so, we let her stay at home for one week, mum and maid stay with her. her last fever was in April. so we somehow expect it to come. thankfully, she is ok after the home rest.

photos of missy in SM class, she is a cupid giving loves to the stress up people in the photos. one of the pretend play

We let missy cycle at our house area.. but that bicycle simply cant make it. got to get her a new one, this is more suitable for younger child. we use to push her around in this, but the stick had since broken. and she played some stick the flag on the map game (one of the montessori game i bought 2 years back)

one of the homework i did for missy for her sports day (KIC).. hee..

Dinner last night

Came across one recipe for salmon with breadcrumb + grated cheese +EVOL (Extra virgin olive Oil).. seem interesting. so i gave it a try..

the photo below, show the before and after..

i complete our dinner with steamed green peas & pumpkin soup..and spaghetty.

after-thought:
The recipe is ok, but the breadcrum and cheese on toop does not enhance the taste of the fish.maybe i shall rub the cheese all over the salmon ? haa.. shall try again.

Simply irresistible !

didi's grand aunt from SF bought this simply irresistible romper for didi which looks funny on him as it's dark blue and long sleeves.. maybe america cold, so they like to wear this type of romper.. but not really suitable for us here.. so, we let him wear as pyjamas.. haaa

didi now can stand on hit feet if we hold him up like in the photos.. i used to do that with missy last time, as acording to book i read, doing this help to strengthen their legs bones and they will be able to walk more steadily as they flex enough of their muscle next time.. hee.. so with him kicking and stepping on the ground, it's a good exercise.

some of didi's photos..he now start taking teether, as he bites anything and everything.. so to soothe his itchy gum, we got him this duckie teether from pigeon.

The siblings..

some photos of the two at home.. they enjoy being together but of course with supervision. cos didi will garb anything.. quite hard.. including pulling his jie jie's hair..face.. jie jie will hug/kiss didi too hard.. and she sometimes not so happy if we let didi hug her pillo.. she will snap it back..

i will always encourage her to show didi her love.. by saying didi loves u.. u see, didi smiles happily when u sing to him.. or when u read him story book.. and she will feel happy when he hear that and will say " i love didi" and sing happily to him.. i guess maybe she feels how come now, mummy will pay more attention to didi and give her things to didi.. haa.. she will slowly learn that didi is part of her family members that she will love and share things with..

and she always hear us telling her, be gentle to didi.. dun pull her hand too hard.. blahh.. she will then echoed it by saying, didi small small, must gently.. :)

My day in & day out

20th July 2010

I remembered recording my daily routine before didi was born. Now, my life is back to certain routine again, new routine and comfortable. Partly because mum is staying with us and she is sleeping with lil missy. So we are not so “busy”

So, morning I will go to work as usual, night, I take care of didi’s night feed, night poo, night cry. Missy is now sleeping through the night, diaper free. So it’s considered effortless to sleep with her at night. Mum doesn’t need to get up to make milk. She too can sleep through. I’m really thankful that missy is able to wean off her milk and diaper free at the right time. So that mum is not tired as she helps to look after didi in the day when LGG & I go to work. Maid intervenes by helping mum with didi. She will play with him, help to heat up my EBM, help to carry didi if required, and help to clean up didi’s mess like after pooing. Washing of milk bottles, sterilizing milk bottles twice a day. When missy is at home, she will help to unpack her school stuff, repack with clean ones, prepare her dinner, and sometimes help to feed her if I need to bath early.

So far, the maid is helping a lot. But, still she has this and that doing wrongly or not my standard. But, I’m fine with her so far. Thankful again, things are going this way now, which ease up a lot of my energy and I can have time to play with my kids. Even with maid, I very much a hands-on mum, who insisted to bath missy, feed her, read to her , talk to her, discipline her as well. I find it weird to have maid to be in class with my child, cos there are maids in missy’s shichida’s class, their parents will leave the child with the maid in the class. How can parents ask the maid to take over this role? One mummy some more said wants her maid to learn how to flash cards for her girl. Shake head.

While in office, I usually will call home to check on things once or twice a day as mum dislikes too many calls which will interrupt didi’s nap. In the office, I will pump milk twice, once in the morning about 11am, once in the afternoon about 3pm. 4 intervals in between. So my work has to be planned around this time. I make sure my meetings are either 2pm or if clash, I have to adjust my milk express timing. So, basically im quite busy lor.. But these days I cant blog in office, so I can have more time doing these. Just nice la.

After work, usually I can leave at 430pm (boss is super undersrtanding, he asks me to go home at this time, if everything is in good hand.) of course, knowing that I can go early, I usually finish all my work before this time. Hee. Then I will go home directly carrying my on the go fridge containing my milk for didi’s meal. Hee

Usually I will reach home around 5pm, then I will eat something, mum usually will ask maid to boil some tonic soup for me. Really thankful to her, with these tonic soup, I can go further and not collapse. *appreciate it a lot mum* After that , I will go downstairs to pick up lil missy, around 530pm , except Tuesday where she has Kindermusic class, I will then pick her up at 620pm.
When missy is home, we will be busy, as we cannot leave didi on his play gym on the floor, as we worried lil missy will step on him or stumble on him. So, we have to clear the floor/gym/mat. Carry didi , unlikely didi will be sleeping now, as lil missy will be making so much noises… playing her piano, singing, or whatever action will wake her didi up.

I will then get missy to drink freshly grind apple juice. Or green bean soup * depends on whether we cook something, else, it’s always fresh apple juice*, then let her watch her Leap frog or we listen to her Kindermusic CD or linking memory CD. I will usually bath her around 630pm, then wipe clean didi (we only bath him once in the morning now). Then, around 7pm, I will feed lil missy her dinner, usually rice. Then, we watch tv while feeding her. I will then eat my dinner so with mum. LGG usually eat later as he comes home later at abt 730pm.

At 8 or 8plus, usually, we will get her to go to her room, to read story book to her by LGG. Or we will play with didi, see him turn and talk to him. He will answer us back loudly haa.

About 830 to 845pm, we will switch off light, get missy to sleep, then I will bring didi to my room, where his cot is and get him to sleep, sometimes he need to suck a bit of milk. After that, I have my time to read a bit of magazine or book. Recently I started the book about chef Gordon Remsay. I’m very interested in his life haa.. how he become such a successful chef. So much hard work ! That’s how I spend my typical weekday.

As for weekend, we have a different schedule. Mum will go to sis place on weekend (not now, as sis still in argentina). So we will sleep together in mum’s room. Missy with LGG, me with didi on bed. Usually didi will get back around 7am, either cos pooing or refuse to sleep again after morning feed. So, we will go to living room, play a bit. Missy will get up by then, catch her sesame street by 8am. Sometimes we will do our marketing and get home before 1030am, as I need to bath missy , feed her lunch before making her to take her early nap by 12noon. Cos her class starts at 2:30pm, we need to leave home by 1:30pm. Then in laws takes over didi. Sometimes we will go over to in laws house, sometimes we stay at our home. Didi now recognize people and place, he will cry a lot when he sees his grandpa or go to his grandparent’s place *shake head*

If in laws bring didi to their place (just 2 streets away), we will go to their house after class and have dinner there. Missy likes to go to her grandparents’ home.

Sunday is the best day of the week, as we can laze at home. No activities usually, missy will play her toys.. painting or watch her dvd. Didi will play with us. Sometimes we go to wet market to buy fish and missy get to see and feel the atmosphere in the wet market.

That’s my days after second baby came along. My life still very busy around my kids. I rarely have time to paint my nails (only did it during maternity leave) or even shave. Haa.. babies quick grow up then I can have more ME time.

Didi turn N turn

19th July 2010:

Didi is 5 month old today; he is getting cuter each day with lots of smiles and chuckles... And he enjoys the playing time with us and with his sister. The two of them really adorable as the sister will touch him and he will make loud loud voice each time... So, it’s their bonding time.

Didi likes to play in front of the mirror, I will carry him and we move towards the mirror then away from the mirror, he will chuckled none stop.. and he will even use his little feet to kick himself away from the mirror. He likes when I carry him and dancing around... He will smile and smile...

He likes us bringing him out for walk; he will look up look down... Turn here and there... Sometimes we have to grab him tightly as he will just turn from left to right with lots of force when we carry him upright chest-to-chest. That’s how active he is now.

And yesterday, maybe he want to mark his 5ft month-old with some achievement, he turn over and then from that lifted up position, he lie down and turn to his back.. Then again turn over and lift himself up then again lie done turn on his back.. 4 times mum said, which I missed as we tried to get him to “repeat” in the evening, he refuses and only want to turn over and lift himself up… hee

My love for didi deepens each day... cos he is sososo adorable... And I love to see my two babies spending time together playing... That’s provided missy is playing gently and not play “rough” la... she sometimes will stroke didi’s face or hand too hard or pinch his didi’s cheek saying “so cute” so many times. And I love taking their photos together. I’m in the midst of doing up photos collage of them... I am procrastinating again. When I have time I take it to read things or sleep... so my study table again piles up like Small Mountain...

My little boy is growing up stronger each day!

Look ! Little Missy is talking!

19th July 2010

Little Missy is now 33 months old. (2 years 9 months old), she is very independent now compare to few months back. But still need a lot of effort to get her to do things or follow routines like get up to brush teeth in the morning and at night, get her to bath, change. She will just refuse to do these automatically but must after several reminders or even have to go with her, and then she will happily brush/bath etc... sigh..eventhough, it’s much easier compare to when she was in terrible two stage, but I would prefer that she can just get up, brush teeth, wipe face, change, ready to go school, at night, after eating dinner, brush teeth etc.. ? Am I asking for these too early too fast? Mm... Maybe I am?

Her vocabulary has improved tremendously which I lost count of how many words/sentences she can say... her mandarin too has been improving! Some of the things she said really amuse me sometimes... Especially the way she speaks mandarin but we are encouraging her each time she speak in mandarin.

Sometimes, when missy is playing with by climbing on me, step here and there and she hurts me, so I will say “stop that, else mummy will die”... I did not assume that she knows what I mean by that as I said it out of anger as she sometimes just cannot stop playing rough even though I told her she is hurting me, one example is she will ride on my back when I lie face down to read something.. And she will sit on me, get up and sit again real hard... My back suffered.

Then, one good day, while we are playing on bed, she suddenly tells me “cannot hard hard, later mummy will die”... I was stunned by her remark. Oh... So she remembers what I told her, if she plays rough, mummy will die. Then I ask her, how mummy dies? She will pretend to die, with tongue stick out... OMG, she even knows what is the meaning of “die”... did I teach her that much? I can’t remember... However, I’m glad she is picking up fast. Then, sometimes, words we said, she will pick up immediately after listening it... Simply powerful! This is why toddler below 3 absorbs like sponge.

Last week, we went for missy’s school for teacher-parent dialog session. We are glad to learn from her English teacher (Miss Yda) and her Chinese teacher (Miss Ou Yang) that missy is a lovely girl in school. She is observed to be interested in activities done in school, participate actively and she is the one who always answer teacher’s questions and other follow her (even though the answer might not be correct all the time) and other also follow her incorrect answer sometimes.. haa. Teacher said she is teachable, affectionate, friendly and always willing to share with her friends. She will console friends who are sad or crying. She talks and laugh with her friends... *girls* teacher said one imperfection about her is that she is very active… teacher said she observed that most of the third and forth quarter babies are super active. Teachers have to calm them down sometimes in order to get them to sleep or do some silent activities.

Teachers retuned us all her arts works... which im going to showcase it at home. And her profile with pictures of her in the midst of her school activities. I find these so wonderful and precious as we get to know what she is doing in school and how she enjoys the activities so much.

And LGG and I feel that we have indeed made a wise decision to send her to school at 22 months-old , even though we had to experience some really tough time in the beginning to get her to adjust herself in the childcare, so much of crying and heartache. But now, after merely a year (we enrolled her in August 2009), she has been doing really well. Partly because she has grown up and also she has caring teacher like Miss Yda who never fail to impress me with her dedication, passion as a teacher. She is a very responsible, attentive teacher who will try to meet all parents’ needs on their children and she follows up, which I think is very important. She even use her own mobile to sms me to tell me info or ask me about my child... I hope there are more such teacher around, to benefit our next generation and also helping parents to feel good to leave our kid with the school.

Well.. shall record more of missy’s schooling in the future.

DIdi vaccination day

today im on childcare leave, as we bring didi for his 3rd jab of 5in1 & 2nd jab of pneumococoal.

so, he has completed all his 5in1, left one booster to be taken when he is 18th month old. while last jab of pneumococoal to be taken when he turn one.

this weekend, we will bring him for his last dose (2nd dose) of rotavirus oral vaccination.

quite fast, and we are on track for his vaccination. didi is now 8.545kg. increase 200g from last month. his michelin still very michelin.. haaa.vey cute now, as he can interact more and more with us..

he can grab things very tighly and anything we put near him, he will grab and pull towards his mouth. he can turn on his chest and lift himself up by 90 deg,(better than me in yoga.. haaa).. and then turn himself down on his back again, and turn on his chest again.. few times..

today i can finally find time to do some online shopping.. and blog and download photos.. normal day, simply cant have the luxury to do all these.. if i have time i rather read up some books to relax.. i've been reading the story about the top chef "Gordon Ramsay".. he is very interesting haaa..

shall post some back dated blog (which i wrote in office when free) and photos..
