APGAR
Article extracted from babycenter.
This is one of the theory we learnt from antenatl classes.
What is the Apgar score?
One minute — and again five minutes — after your baby is born, doctors calculate his Apgar score to see how he's doing. It's a simple process that helps determine whether your newborn is ready to meet the world without additional medical assistance.
This score — developed by anesthesiologist Virginia Apgar in 1952 and now used in modern hospitals worldwide — rates a baby's appearance, pulse, responsiveness, muscle activity, and breathing with a number between zero and 2 (2 being the strongest rating). The numbers are totaled, and 10 is considered a perfect score.
How does the doctor score my baby?
It's easy to remember what's being tested by thinking of the letters in the name "Apgar": Activity, Pulse, Grimace, Appearance, and Respiration. Here's how they're used to rate your baby:
Activity (muscle tone)
0 — Limp; no movement
1 — Some flexion of arms and legs
2 — Active motion
Pulse (heart rate)
0 — No heart rate
1 — Fewer than 100 beats per minute
2 — At least 100 beats per minute
Grimace (reflex response)
0 — No response to airways being suctioned
1 — Grimace during suctioning
2 — Grimace and pull away, cough, or sneeze during suctioning
Appearance (color)
0 — The baby's whole body is completely bluish-gray or pale
1 — Good color in body with bluish hands or feet
2 — Good color all over
Respiration (breathing)
0 — Not breathing
1 — Weak cry; may sound like whimpering, slow or irregular breathing
2 — Good, strong cry; normal rate and effort of breathing
What do the Apgar scores mean?
The one-minute Apgar score
This helps your practitioner decide whether your baby needs immediate medical help. If your baby scores between 7 and 10, it usually means he's in good shape and doesn't need more than routine post-delivery care. (Don't be disappointed if your baby doesn't score a perfect 10, though. It's unusual for a baby's hands and feet to have good color one minute or so after arrival.)
If your baby scores between 4 and 6, he may need some help breathing. This could mean something as simple as suctioning his nostrils or massaging him, or it could mean giving him oxygen. If your baby scores 3 or less, he may need immediate lifesaving measures, such as resuscitation. Keep in mind, though, that a low score at one minute doesn't mean that your baby won't eventually be just fine. Sometimes babies born prematurely or delivered by cesarean section, for example, have lower-than-normal scores, especially at the one-minute testing.
The five-minute Apgar score
This helps your practitioner see how your baby is progressing and whether he has responded to any initial medical intervention. A score of 7 to 10 is still considered normal at this point. If your baby scores 6 or less at the five-minute mark, he may need medical help and your practitioner will determine what steps need to be taken.

Bread Making lesson #2
This saturday we are making more bread..very exciting...
(1)Herb Spinach bread - with tuna filling <-- can substitute with carrot bread too
(2)Raisin Bread <-- healthy, nice
(3)Sandwich loaf <-- very good loaf for daily consumption, nice and fluffy and aromatic
(4)Doughnuts <-- after goin through the recipe & steps, doughnuts making actually not so healthy to eat too often. especially those production in bulk, the oil they use and fats..
(5) Pork Floss buns <-- now i know how to make the cream they apply before sticking the floss on top of the bun.. muahh..
Shall post the photos once received from classmate.
Next purchase --> bread making machine, classmate said it's the simplestw ay to make dough rather than using hand to knead or use mixer... one good mixer is around $880, bulky one that we used in class. i dun think i want to invest so much on this as im not ready to open my bakery as yet.. muahhh...

My First Sweet Bun
I've tried the bread making taught in class on Sunday. But the dough making was a dissapointment. sob sob sob.. i ended up have to add more flour than it suppose to. So the bread turned out a bit harder than it should.
But, hey, my nephews finished all the bread i brought over, and all thumbs up. yann even said i can open bakery.. love them all.. what an encouragement anyone can get !!!!
will post some of the photos when free...

Chores...
Mum and nephews are here .. school holidays... so they decided to pop by for few days..
so i took one day leave to settle all those in my list..
(1) apply social visit pass for mum
(2) do medical check up for mum
(3) apply maid
Luckily, i've got all done in the same day.. medical report collected but got to wait till mum come back in her next trip to submit the application again.
So, soon, i'll be having a philippino maid in my home. I wonder if i will get used to it.. but no choice got to. Jen was saying, after awhile, i'll get used to having a helper at home and feel uneasy if no maid.. haaa.. i think she has a point there...
pretty fast.. now it's coming to the last month of my pregnancy.. sometimes i think too much till will dream of giving birth.. but in the dream it is painless.. muahhh

Bread MaKing lesson #1
Yippeee.. i attended the first bread making class last sat.Itw as fun and exciting ! you'll be surprised that many man and youngster are joining the class.. of course, there are aunties too. and me one and only pregnant lady.. muahh..
There are nearly 30 of us. rather a big class. 4 in a table. still comfortable. im joining 3 other aunties as i came late. well.. it's ok.. cos they actually taught me quite a fair bit of baking tips.. always knowledgeable when come to baking or cooking.. experience counts !
we started around 130pm, the chef was late as she is a little under the weather, she said she cancelled the pervious night demo class. Manage to conduct today's ! phew.. lucky ! as i dun think i can afford anymore delay of classes. i can wait but bb cannot wait.
so she started by giving us some basic theory knowledge of how she gto into contact with bread making and what we should take note of when making a bread. the dough is very important, naturally.
So, we started making the dough, ferment, weigh, shape..etc etc.. we managed to made 3 basic types of bun with various toppings and shaping.. so fun really !
and we get to bring all back home.. I shall write down the recipe when im free..and those tips picked up in class...
Chef Judy recommended "The Bread Bible" by Rose Beranbaum as she said this author combine the science and bread making which make sense.

Happy bread making !
Three batches of bread we made:
(1) Pandan Ampang Red Bean Buns
- photos shows different shaping of the bun that are made by my group

(2) Chocolate spirals, sausage rolls, Almond twist
- with sausage & chocolates filling & almond flakes as decorations

(3) Cheese Twist
- the dough are added with Italian herb seasoning.. very fragrant.

HomE SwEEt HoMe..
5 days holiday back home was over in just a glimpse.. how time flies when you r enjoying..
This trip home was meant to pray my father before my delivery...and also bring back some goodies mum prepared for my delivery soon.. and also to celebrate sis's & chenn's b'day
we went to Karaoke.. this was the very first time i ever sing in karaoke.. mum can sing .. not bad..we were singing so loud till feeling like our throats had over-worked !! heee..not a bad experience but the charges are way too high... really not worth going too often... well.. one time experience is good enough for me..
we went to Port disckson for our saturday outing.. the one enjoying the most is none other than yann.. he simply loves water.. he now can swim quite well as he attended lessons regularly now..no more float required ! too bad chenn is not feeling well, else he will definitely enjoy if he tag along.. as for me+LGG+mum.. we din dip into the sea.. just sit and eat and feel the sea breeze..i like the feeling of being at the beach.. always so soothing... too bad LGG keep wanting to sleep... cos we came out quite early.. wake up at 6am and start the trip at 7am. haaa
Like usual, mum prepared all the food. she always very busy cooking when we went home. This round, we only went to eat ikan bakar with brother.. no other outside food cos mum said dun anyhow eat outside food...mum bought some mangosteen, langsat and mata kuching too..and she made my ever favourite dumpling .. yum yum.. and i got the local tau-sa piang & xiang ping.. yum yum.. fresh and nice ! always like it !
one of the surprises for this round was to discover a shop selling all the necessities for baking.. mum found out about this shop and she recommended me.. this shop is exactly what i wanted to have as my own business in future.. well.. too early to think now but at least i have a dream to achieve..heee.. i've got some of the baking ingredients from this shop.. the prices are way cheaper compare to s'pore.. so worth it.
Been eating so much...wonder if my weigh also shooting up a lot.. geess..the next round i go home, it'll be 3 of us...how things change...how we change...glad i enjoy all the changes in my life..
My bread making lessons starting soon.. excited ! i've baked a wholemeal bread back home iwth mum's recipe.. not bad..i'll make one more today to go with the roast chicken tonight.. yum yum..

Yoga Instructor
Today company circulated the yoga class again.. sob sob how i wish i can participate..
Again, im thinking when then i can really have the time to pick up yoga and be a yoga instructor myself ? It is one of the thing that i ever thought of doing partly because i enjoy yoga and it can always be a part time job for me..
Maybe after im 35.. i'll re-consider this option and do it seriously, get a cert or something.. so if im out of job, i can still teach yoga for living..and as hobby...
so.. this is my next 5 years resolution huh !!
After giving birth i'll go back to yoga again.. or pilates ! soon soon.....

BB Status
Today check-up again weight increased. 2 kg this time. Lucky thing is bb's weight is perfect according to doc. she is now 1.6kg. already turn downwards, meaning head down. also means i have chances to go through natural birth if everything goes well.
I just mentioned abt can hear bb's heartbeat in my previous post, i asked doc, he said it's not bb heartbeat, it's bb;s hiccup.. muahhh.. he said very normal for bb to hiccup at this stage as her lung it developing and she is practising to breath....
it really feels like heartbeat... so amazing..
next visit will be nearer apart from now.. getting more excited !

AnoTher WeEkends...
We attended our antenatal class on saturday as usual.. this will be the last exercise class as the next 2 classes will be purely on briefings and sharings..
Gesss.. i wonder if i can cope with the contraction and the whole giving birth process.. but im very very optimistic abt it.. Looking only the positive side of it.. Finger crosss.. i'll have a normal natural birth..and most importantly my bb is healthy.
Every mon-to-be will have the worries of what will happen to our bb.. will he/she be a healthy baby or.. all kind of thinking... But , just have to keep thinking positively and happily... no point stressing yourself with all the thoughts and ended up worrying and anxious for nothing... many things we cannot control..
After class, we went to Ikea.. simply love being at Ikea.. bought my big bowl for baking..finally, been eyeing on the bowl for so long but never get the time to go ikea.. and we got a new curtain for our bb room .. very cute one.. with animal prints.. and of course, not forgetting to lunch at ikea.. love their "today's special" menu.. always so satisfying..
After that we went to Giant .. guess what we get..whole norwegian Salmon.. it's on offer.. and we think it's worth buying.. of course we can't finish the whole fish overnight, it weigh nearly 3 kg..since giant helped to clean and chop up the fish into pieces to our preference.. so we can keep in freezer and slowly cook as and when we feel like having salmon steak... Yum Yum..
Saturday well spent..
Sunday was spent with in-laws and relatives.. some celebration and we get to eat 3 different types of pizzas & KFC.. unhealthy but shiok lah.. cos once awhile..
Today.. no work cos checkup.. so looking forward to see my bb again.... she is very very active nowadays.. and i can feel her heartbeat throught my tummy.. amzing isn't it ? my mum in law said she felt it too last time when she carried her bb aka my husband..

ToWarDs BreAd -Making
hoo.. it came true.. company really subsudised 1/2 of the course fees.. so i decided to go for it ! Bread making course. !! ,muahhhhhh..
Surprisingly. of all the courses, i'm the only person from my company who register for this course.. wonder why.. is it the cost ? or b'cos it is 4 weeks, too long ? mmm.. nvm lah.. so long the course is still on, i'll go !
I'll make sure i'm back with some bread making skill.. can teach my mum.. she is very interested in bread making too.
I wonder why i have so much energy .. even now carrying big tummy.. haaa.. i just love my life !

WeEkENd Meals
i find western food easier and take shorter time to prepare.. that's why usually weekend our meals will be towards western..
Saturday night:

Sunday night
The roast chicken looks so dark.. lighting i guess.. it is very crispy and nice.. LGG suggested to use two small saucer to lift up the chicken to prevent the juices from dampen the chicken crispiness.. it works ! and this time round, i do some cutting around the chicken thigh and body.. so that it cooked thoroughly. yum yum..
During U time, i used to roast chicken whenever aunt is not around and i have to prepare my own meals.. simple dish... use five spice powder + pepper + salt to marinade the chicken then just roast it, last time she used to have the roast chicken rack to hold the chicken.
