COmpany Xmas Party- Universal Studio

This year my company Xmas party was at Universal Studio Singapore !..somehow it was expected as this seemed like trend for most company to have their family day at USS.

so, off we went today, missy,LGG & I. I told missy we are going to see puss in the boots. which she has been reading this story with her daddy. as i cant tell her shrek or mascagascar these are not so familiar to her. so she is very excited cos she said "mummy,where is puss in the boots ? we go and see now?" all the way.

It was a Free & Easy trip, we got the tickets before hand and just go on our own into the park. We started off with Merry go round in Madagascar, missy is very curious. but quite unexpected, she cried when we were half way through the merry-go-round, she said she is frightened as the animals we were sitting on will move up and down with the misic while going around. aiyaaa.. so, after the musical round, we jst be cautious with things we play, as missy is not as "adventurous" as we thought she is. she refuse to play most of the things..



Even when we are taking pictures with the cartoon character like panda. hippo.. she is excited when we are in the queue, she said she want to take photos, but when it was out turn, she is chicken out, and refuse to take with the cartoon character, she is scared .. alamak.. so we got to carry her to take the photos..

We ended up, shopping in the shops instead, which she is ok. and we onlywent for 4D show after our lunch. the rest of the games all no no to missy..

well, make me think twice abt my next year plan to go HK disneyland, we may ended up just walking around without playing any of the games..

i bought my betty boops comb this round, last time i didn 't buy it as i feel it was quite x. but this round, i bought it, cos i need a new comb, and it'll be just fun the have betty. hee.. and we got missy a better boops notebook, which she chose herself.




We bought some T-Rex shirts one for didi, one for missy at Jurrasic park gift shop, one for LGG. then, we got some magnets, including betty boops magnet. we got a Universal studios Singapore shirt for mum too. and we bought the woody woodpecker kid's lunch box($8.80), i bought two, one for missy and one for myself, as i want to keep the lunch box for didi next time. and we bought the woody woodpecker pop corn but really so much pop corn inside, eat till we feel sore throat.but the container is darn cute, $14.90 one really slash tourist.





Missy seems happy only when we took photos with woody woodpecker. maybe the character appeared friendly. The 4D show was really good. Thumbs up ! When the character in the show sneezes we have water splashes on our face.. and we can feel the wind when there are wind in the show.. really fantastic.

Overall, it was quite ok. a very outdoor xmas party ever we had.

After the USS, we came back home, missy slept on the way home. and we went to missy's ebglish teacher's wedding, malay wedding, the first we ever attended. really nothing special, the food are cold, not much to eat. and nothing to see. very very plain. maybe it's how malay have their wedding at void deck. not like chinese with fantastic food, fantastic photos, music and all. their is karaeok. so weird.




very tiring day. but we have fun. great experience.

Didi Waving

Didi now will use his right hand to wave whenever we say "bye bye".. the way he wave is by turning his right hand, left and right..when he is in good mood.. he will lift up his hand and wave up and down.. very funny.. but hey, he already started to link the word "bye bye" with his action --> moving his hands as in wave..this is the part that is pick up slow by missy last time, she refused to wave until abt 1 year old. but she understand it when we told her "bye bye"..

so, another motor skill developed by little bb boy.

Today i stayed at home with didi and mum.. didi is busy playing his toys.. he now is able to sit up from lying down position, but still unstable, so we are still cautios when he do that. he likes to stand up with us holding on his armpit. and smiling happily when we let go of our hands and he is able to stand on his own for 1/2 sec.. haaa

The xmas gift for him, Thomas train Pull along is used by him to bite..not pull.. he loves the string..



didi has got two more new teeth, lower lateral incisor..shall upda6e the tething chart.

Work Life

yesterday we celebrated boss's 57th bday in office.. i bought him swensen mango tango ice cream. which is nice and he loves mango.

He had done my appraisal last week. Im happy with his review over my performance eventhough i have been away for 4 months maternity leave. i really enjoyed the flexibility here that my boss gave me. and i can se myself mature into the role that im doing now too. Hopefully, with the version upgrade next year, i can pick up more knowledge for my role.

yesterday also, one bad news for Jen. Her hubby met with an accident. he was on motorcycle and was knocked down by a stupid car who did a wrong turn. his calf bones were fractured, both bones. imagine that. so he will need an operation and prolong mc for sure to recuperate. Shall visit him coming Friday.

Coming Sunday, we shall go to my company's xmas party in Universal Studios. So excited. just hope the weather is good, the company is fun !

Tmw and Friday i will be on leave to clear my final two days for this year as i can only bring fwd 5 days to 2011. after that i shall have to work even weekends until 16th Dec before my long leave. as HA is on leave, i have to backup him. i can foresee how busy i am but im happy too cos that's when i pick up lots of things. when he is around, he likes to handle things and leave me only those not so critical ones.

anyway, we shall welcome 2011, with more work, more challenges and i feel more ready for work now. Happy working !

Xmas gifts

Well, it wont be fun for the kiddos if there are no gifts for xmas right?.. so i've got gift for the two .

missy is so excited of the sight of my Toysrus plastic bag..she keeps asking me is it for her.. i told me, one for her, one for didi. and we can only open the gifts when daddy is home. and she obeyed what i told her.. but keep reminding me, that s her gift..

she is more interested in didi's gift as it looks bigger.

What did i get them ?

missy -> a bouncy toys story ball. she always like to play ball when we bring her down and other children are playing, she will definetely want to join. some boy don't share and don't let her play, so i thought she will like this gift. Indeed. she loves it. and i have been playing ball pass/throwing with her since.

didi -> Thomas train pull along with music. i thought boys will like choo choo train ? but seems like it attracted missy more cos she is the one keep pulling the train around the house. haa. didi just look on and chase after the sister.

Glad they enjoy their another new toys. :) Merry Xmas my children !

Strawberry Shortcake live

there are many live show during xmas season for children in Spore. if you have time, you can bring ur child to these live show at diferent location, they have sesame street live, barney, care bears, strawberry shortcake, dora, yogi bear etc etc.. usually you need to be there 1 hr before to queue and get chance to go into the front row, which u may be given passes to take photos with your "idol".. this is too troublesome for me.. imagine the waiting time and crowd.. i cant imagine !

However, since they are having strawberry shortcake live at the mall near our home, so i though, ok la.. we shall drop by to have a look, we leave home 1/2 hr before, reach there within 10 mins and already the crowd was amazing.. we stay in second floor to see..so crowded.. the show last abt 30 mins.

We brought didi along too, he is just interested with moving things like when they are dancing but not when they are talking..

missy enjoyed the show as she refused to go home, not until i gave her some cheese bread then she sit on her push car and we brought her home.. haa..

Didi Imitates me

I did not expect didi to start to imitate what we do. As for missy, she started to imitate us and talk like us only after she is like 18 months old, which at that time, i keep saying, monkey see, monkey do.
now, my this little monkey is learning fast.

What happened was that, yesterday while carrying him and talking to him in front of mirror, which i always do that with him, i started to stick out my tongue and look in the mirror, with him looking in the mirror too. When i did that, he turn his head to look at my face, instead of my image in the mirror. then i continue to stick out my tongue and look at him. he then started to stick out his tongue too. Muahaha.. he looks so cute when he do that.. how i wish we can catch that moment in camera.

Then, i carried him away from the mirror, and do the same action again, stick out my tongue, and he again. look at him with so much interest and started to stick out his tongue whenever i did so. everyone was amused by his imitation. so adorable.

lil missy and her San Zhi Jing

We have started to recite the San Zhi Jing since last month i think, after missy showed that she is able to recite poems both for english and chinese after few listening. I must thanj SM for this, as she was exposed to wide vocab & memorising by listening and looking at image since 18th month-old.

We started to just read it and she follows after me.. then after few reading like this, she is able to recite on her own. now, we are at the third page. shall add on as much as we can go.. one way to get missy to familiarise with madarin words and the sounds and also strengthen her memory.

Didi says "mum mum"

lil boy loves food more than his sister at the same age. he cant see us eating, and whenever he se us holding something and our mouth moving, he will dash towards us,, and said "mum mum"..and started making noise until we give him a little of whatever we have.. be it bread, fruits, biscuits, rice..

he will show the satisfied look once we get a tiny bits of what we are eating. Very funny. So, yesterday, while his sister is eating her blueberry, lil didi is very desperate, want to get one also, but the we worried the sister will give the whole blueberry to him which might choke him, so we got to carry him away and give him the bluberry separately, he, surprisingly.. manage to finish 15 blueberry that i have put into his bowl. what an appetite. 9 month-old nia.. aiyoo.. mum said "better work hard, u need to buy lots of food for this one".. muhahaha..

Didi & his diet

lil boy's appetite is getting bigger these days, he drinks 180ml if milk 4 times a day ( one time in the morning, usually 7am, then one time in the afternoon usually 2-3pm, one time in the evening 7pm -730pm, and one time in the wee hour usually 3-4am)

he will eat his porridge/solid twice a day, onece in the morning, 10 to 11am, another time in the late afternoon 4to 5pm.

the interval between solid/milk usually of 3 hours span.

so, mum and i been cooking porridge for didi and we have since added egg yolk( as adviced by doc to start egg yolk at 9 month-old, then egg white after one) this is to prapare him for MMR jab which contains egg yolk. and monitor for any allergy. so far, we have given didi half of the kampung egg's yolk in the beginning, then added bit by bit to now one egg yolk. he loves it and so far no rashes or allergy. Good.

It is recommended to introduce only one type of new food to our bb at a time. so that we can see how the body react to the food source, if any allergy and stuff. so far my girl no history of allergy and LGG & i boht don't have allergies too. So, unlikely didi will have. but just be careful since he is still below one.

Some recipees that we prepared for didi.

1. pureed pumpkin/ mashed potatoes/mashed sweet potatoes
i will just take one potato, remove the skin, wash, then cut into wedges, Steam it (8-10 mins)and then mash it and add a one teaspoon of bb's formula milk and add some warm water. stir the mixture into a smooth mash. Likely for pumpkin, but usually, i did not add formula milk, just mash it after steaming. and bb will eat it like that as pumpkin is sweet and nice. sometimes if i want them to be complete smooth, i just put them into blender and pureer it till it's smooth, no chunks. but i feel little bit of chunky feeling will be nice, as the potatoes are steamed, they already soft, and bb can feel the texture this way.

Nutrients value: pumpkin has high vitamin A & beta-carotene; Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, fibers, beta-carotene, potassium, and calcium, phosphorous and proteins

2. fish/chicken/pork porridge
Im using organic brown rice for didi's porridge. we will use the yellow beans/big bones stock cooked before hand to cook the porridge, slow fire until the porridge turn very mushy.. can use slow cooker too if no time, let it slowly cook, then add in vegetables (vegetables will be boiled first in another pot, after it's soft, we wil take it out, pureed it in blender then add the water to boiled the vegetables as well as the pureed vegetables into the porridge, let them slowly cooked)

Usually, i will add in the fish (we have added threadfin now besides salmon & cod), or pork (the lean pork) or chicken breast meat after the rice started to break into porridge.. and before i add in vegetables. so that the porridge will cooked together with all the nutrients from the meat and soften it. for fish, i will shred it to ensure no bones, i bought from wet market and ask for the boneless portion, and for chicken and pork, i will blender it before i feed didi, cos it's harder for him , who only has 6 teeth to chew on the meat.

so far, we have added carrot, broccoli, wongbak, corn, huaiSan, xiao Bai cai, spinach, mushroom(latest, the big white button mushrooms, i used the fresh mushrooms to boil the soup, then add few slices of the mushrooms and pureed it and add into the porridge, it smells great, didi finishes the whole bowl..)

3. hard boiled egg yolk
just hard boil it and let bb eat the yolk only. as it's not advisebale to feed bb below one egg white, high chances of allergy reaction.

4. fruits- 1/2 apple
we feed fruits to didi now. he had 1/2 an apple daily, we just grind it on the baby food grinder and feed him the juice as well as pulp. he also eat grapes, papaya.

we can also steam pear/apple for baby for change of cooking method according to books, but i feel eat it fresh is much better.

5. plain water
we give didi plain water throughot the day to make sure he is well hydrated. It's a good habit to drink lots of water too. We did that for missy and now she drinks lots of water daily. althoug that does not prevent her from falling sick, but things will be worst if she does not drink lots of water right ? that's what i thought.

so far, i never give didi any ready-made rice cereal like nestle, only tried the rice ceral during his hospital stay, but he din like it. and i feel eventhought the packaging said no preservative blah blah blah.. it will surely have some preservative/colouring/salt..Last time i bough teething biscuit for missy but i find it so sweet. so this round, id did not buy for didi.

and we have stop using the ikan bilis stock cos i read from a baby food book, it contain high sodium, so if possible don't give that much to infant.

lil didi poo twice a day usually, which means his food intake is good. but his weight gain is not much, from 6 months tol 9 months, he is still below 9kg and he does not have thunder thigh. he only remain his sugar-caned arms.. hee..

shall add more variety in time to come..

Mexican Chicken Burito with Guacamole

well, after my oven gave up on me, i haven been baking .. home cooked food are prepared by maid mostly, unless weekends, i shall do some spaghetti or something.

lately, i came across this blog who always share simple recipes. so i thought i shall give it a try and i'm glad i did.it's sosos nice..and healthy

i have to make the guacamole using avocado + garlic + tomatos+parsley. little bit of salt to taste.

The filling, is using chicken breast meat, i marinate with pepper =five spice powder. or use garlic powder(master food) also can. then stir fry till it brown. i plan of steaming it next time.

i bought the wholemeal wrap from cold storage. and i found the brand called "five loaves" which sell very healthy bread with no preservatives. i bought the wholemeal cinnamon rolls.





so simple to make and yummy to taste. Thumbs up !

Arts @ home

Finally i find time to start the canvas painting for missy. I bought this canvas painting from ELC some months back..

She loves it.. but i find it messy all the shinny paper flying all over.

Shall showcase it at home , her first canvas painting @ 3years 2 months old.

Playing Time @ home

Now, i just leave didi on the playng mat and play his toys.. his sister will always come and "steal" toys away from him..cos she will said, this is mine, didi small small cannot play... so i started to buy new toys for didi instead and for missy too, so she will then leave the toys meant for didi to him...like the cookie monster is for didi and hers is Elmo..i still feel the need to supervise them while they are playing their toys to prevent any injury as lil missy is still youn to know that pulling away a toys from her brother may cause him to fall or injure him..

lil didi is enjoying his toys.. which he enjoys tasting them..now he will insist on toys he wants to play..i mean taste..if we take it away, he will make noise..another stubborn one

we are staying at home on SUnday.. i wanted to go many placed but lazy bonesss.. cant move..we will go to Universal Studio next weekend, thus, shalll safe my energy for that !

Santa Claus is coming to town ...

I love the atmosphere of Xmas.. cos it's so red much decoration and it always have gifts around.. make me feel that happiness. Im toying with the idea of buying a small xmas tree at home.. but LGG objected .. sigh, he said only christian should get xmas tree.. well, for me im not restricted by religion in festive celebration, i can buy ketupat cos hari raya.. i can buy muruku when deepavali.. it's just to enjoy the festive atmosphere.. we are living in multi racial society.. we should appreciate other's religion's celebration.. well, thought abt it, if i get one, didi may grab all deco from the tree? mm.. k some years later..

On our way to SM class last week, missy was attracted by the Xmas trees in the hall of International Plaza.. she keep taking the presents as if they are for her.. so cute





Even in class, we started to do activities involving xmas ..




Hopefully, we can make it to the orchard to see the xmas light up before we start our long break.. Merry Xmas !

Lil brother @ 9 month-old

my lil boy is now 9 month-old.. how time flies and he is just 3 months away from being one-year old.. oh.. dear what cake should i buy for him?!?

Today i was on leave to bring lil boy for his 9th month-old development assessment. He is tested for hearing, motor skill like standing, crawling, holding things, eyes movement, etc.. he is doing well so far.

his weight is now 8.9kg @ 75% percentile for his age group, 70cm tall -50%, with head circumference @ 46cm -75% . he is still doing commando crawl,not on fours yet..and not able to pull himself to stand up by holding on his cot frame.

comparing to lil missy, she was @ 9.7kg -90%, 72cm-75%, and lil missy already crawling very freely at home and i started doing swimming session with her at home.

i wonder will this be the difference between girl/boy or breastfed /formula fed baby ? mm..

anyway, so long lil boy's developemt is within his age group's range i guess should be fine. just that comparing to his sister, he is slightly slower in gross motor skill.

but we observed that his appetite is much better than his sister's now, he can chew food much better, apple (juice + pulp), bread (missy never had bread till 1 year plus), porride (missy's porridge was being pureed will 1 year plus)..

lil boy is very cheerful and he seem to be attached to me more than others, i guess partly cos i breasfed him ? tt's what i read online.. haa..

Just hope lil boy will grow up healthily and happily:)

Didi now started to show his preference for people, things, food. he will also started to "fight" for toys with his sister. The sister will play her toys.. lilt brother will crawl to her toys and try to get "involved" in her game.. but the sister said "no no.." *imitating us* " u r small boy cannot play" but didi insisted that he is "old" enough to play the toy such as blocks..and try to grab one.. the sister will then sweep all the blocks to one corner.. and raise her voice "NO, you cannot play".. the didi seeing his target being removed.. will started to make complaint voice.. then make noise..then we have to get "involved" to intevene.. to carry the didi away..so.. very soon, the two will be fighting for toys.. for real one...

Didi says "papa" "tata"

little bb boy now is starting to practise his speech .. and as expected he started off with "papa" instead of "mama" which almost everyday i tell him to call me "mama" the only time he call "ma" is when he is angry and mix with his crying.. with ah "ma"... sob..

He is now still doing his commando crawl.. but pretty fast when he spotted something he likes.. he will push all things away and commando crawl towards his target.. very funny gesture..

anyway, little munchkin is so adorable now.. we just cant help is but fall in love with him more and more.. even his sister cant resist him, always squeeze near near to him..

lil girl @ 37 Month-old

lil missy is now 37 month + going to 38 months soon.

Her conversation has expanded tremendously. she also likes to use "Because ..." and also "But...."

and she has started to speak more mandarin with us now.. as i stress on it. she will always speak in mandarin with my mum aka her popo. we have started to recite the "san zji jing" too. i printed them and clip it on her easel, so as and when i will just read and ask her to follow after me.. she can remember some now. at the same time, her daddy is learning too.. Good.

Now, we have poem recital for shichida, i think quite effortlessly for missy, and i also can remember cos i rad it almost daiyl with her. Then for 4th Dec, we will have another round of brain olympic for LM set 2B.

we do worksheet and also noddy fun book. quite a lot of activities i guess for 3 yo. im trying to sqeeze in writing time. so far, not much progress..

little 8 month-0ld boy boy

My little cherup loves when i sing the rhyme while circling on his palm

tickle under there.. action: tickle his armpit or belly..

i have started playing with him for awhile now, 2 months back i guess. and even his sister knows how to do the action when reciting the rhyme.

didi will start smiling even before i start the circling on palm action. i just have to say round and round the garden.. he is already expecting the "akan datang" haaa.. very cute boy

Didi Hospitalised

Last week, we had a eventful weekend, as didi was hospitalised from Friday night(29th Oct) to 1st Nov noon.

The whole story as below..

on 25th Oct(Monday), after i came back from work, mum said did seems to have some cough and phlegm.. that was after the flu episode from lil missy, eventhough lil missy has recovered from her cough/phlegm, she still cough occassionally with the sound of phlegm in her throat. we have since saw doc for 4 times.. imagine that. doc said with the haze, the phlegm took longer than usual time to clear.

and the thing we afraid happened. didi got the virus from his sister.. finally, after like coming to a month since lil missy first started with her cough. and that coincide with.. i have just stopped breastfeeding. sob.

on monday night, did cough and vomitted his milk, we brought him to see the doctor near our home immediately, no fever yet. doc said still early stage, is ok. but the cough with phlegm and running nose got worst even with medicine. and he started to develop fever on wednesday night, mild one..37.9 or so. and we monitored for one day, which the fevere did not go away on the whole day of Thursday 28th Oct. so, on Friday , i took leave to bring him and missy to see the Paedatrician @ Bishan. as missy still cough occasionally.

spent almost 200 for the two for the visit. but didi's fever never subsided, and he started to lose appetite for milk/porridge and he looks verey sleepy and cranky, his fever still hovering at 38 + to 39+.. after medicine it took about 1 hour to drop. In the evening, his fevere still at 39 plus even after medicine, after 4 hours. i felt not right, so we quickly bring him to KKh A&E. I smsed my PD, she said is expected, she even guaranteed that by Sunday 31/10 his fever/cough will be better, asked me to sponge him. But when we reached KKh A&E, his fever was at 40.1deg.. ohh no.. too much
risk/stress for me to take.. after the paracetamol, didi fever still at 38 plus. so the doc ask me to decide, either to bring him home and continue to sponge and monitor or stay in hospital. i chose the later.

so, we were admitted. With professional nurses checking didi's temperature hourly/2 hourly, it made me feel much better. and didi's fever subsided on Sat night. and the doctor in KH ward told me, it's normal that baby this age will have fever this high for 5-7 days, he somemore said, maybe i don't know, he explained to me. i told him, i don't want to take the risk, cos the doc said only fever with fits is dangerous, but so long u know how to abort it and only fever up to 42 deg will cause bain damage.. but hey, how would i know how to abort a fit if it ever happen ? and what if when i was sleeping, his fever shoot up to 42 deg?? all the ifss. so i dun want to take the risk.

and true enough, didi was back to normal on Sunday.. and after oen day of clear from fever, we left home on Monday. What a scare ! lucky thing didi is ok now. he has since regain his appetite.

We stayed at KKH 1 bedded thus, treatment like VIP, seem like staying in hotel like that.. haaa.. lil missy was with MIL, and we din bring her to see didi as nurses advises us not to, as many baby/todler having fever due to haze.

something to ponder..

Pencil: I'm sorry
Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong.
Pencil: I'm sorry cos you get hurt bcos of me. Whenever I made a
mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes
vanish, you lose a part of yourself.
You get smaller and smaller each time.
Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do
this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong.
Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace
me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop
worrying. I hate seeing you sad. :)


I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very
inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are
the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their
mistakes. Sometimes along the way... they get hurt, and become smaller
(older, and eventually pass on). Though their children will eventually
find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do
for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones
worrying, or sad.


"All my life, I've been the pencil.. And it pains me to see the eraser
that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that
one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of
what I used to have..."
